Overall. It's fair to say that when the Citroen C4 was first launched, its new and relatively untested technology deterred quite a few used buyers. Neither was it a car without reliability issues. The quality control process tightened up notably over the life of the car and the post-2008 models represent a decent bargain. Its successor, the C4 Picasso, is cut from very different cloth. The claims made for comfort, silence and smoothness are fully justified. These are the reasons why I chose the C4, and despite what some motoring journalists say, the car handles well and the steering is nicely weighted on the move. Fuel economy is not my main priority, but I get low 40's mpg in urban driving and up to 50mpg on the motorway.
Under test by CarsGuide the C4 Picasso diesel averaged 8.4L/100km, well above the claimed average of 7.4L/100km, but still impressive given the size and shape of the beast. The petrol version was claimed to average 8.9L/100km on the recommended 95-octane Premium unleaded. To save a few bucks Citroen says you can use E10 ethanol blend fuel.
If it's blowing the fuse, change the pump. There not expensive and it's easy to do assuming that the car is out of warranty and that your paying.. Far cheaper than letting a dealer start playing with the wiring. Pumps are known to fail and in the winter frozen pumps blow fuses and Citroen's advice is to fit a bigger one.
